Job Description:

A welcoming and supportive nursery in Lambeth is seeking a confident and compassionate SEND Early Years Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a bright and articulate 4-year-old child with complex sensory needs. This role would suit a strong graduate or experienced practitioner with a solid understanding of SEND, particularly sensory processing needs, who can provide consistent, calm, and responsive support during afternoon sessions.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide dedicated 1:1 support tailored to the child’s sensory and emotional needs
  • Support gradual and structured transitions towards peer interaction
  • Work collaboratively with the nursery team, SENCO, and the child’s family
  • Contribute to and support the development of the child’s EHCP, which is currently in progress
  • Spend part of each afternoon working in the main nursery room, providing respite time and wider classroom support

Requirements:

  • Strong background or qualification in SEND / Early Years / Psychology / Education
  • Excellent understanding of sensory needs and inclusive practice
  • Patient, nurturing, and confident in supporting children with complex needs
  • Reflective and keen to develop professionally within a supportive team
