Job Description:

We are looking for an inspirational SENCO at our brand new Thornycroft School based in Oldham (OL8). Thornycroft School will be a brand-new, independent specialist day school providing high-quality education for up to 70 pupils. Based in Oldham, Greater Manchester, the school will meet the diverse needs of pupils aged 5-19 with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Autism. We provide a holistic, bespoke curriculum with rich learning opportunities that enable young people to develop their functional life skills in order to experience a high quality of life.

Requirements:

  • Must hold a SENCO Qualification or be close to completing
  • Must have a QTS status
  • Make a valuable contribution to the offering that young people receive at the school as part of the provision of high-quality teaching and learning
  • Have some experience of working effectively with local authorities
  • Have a passion for ensuring all young people succeed
  • Be able to work effectively within a supportive, committed, and successful staff team
  • Have high aspirations for themselves and others, and a commitment to further development
  • Have a robust understanding of SEND Code of practice
  • An understanding of SEMH education and how to support the additional needs associated with SEMH pupils
