Job Description

Are you a dedicated and empathetic individual with experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? If you hold a Level 2 or 3 qualification (or possess equivalent hands-on experience) and are available to start immediately, a variety of welcoming primary schools across Blackpool are looking for your specialist skills right now. We are currently filling urgent local vacancies for both flexible day-to-day cover and stable, long-term placements. This is a highly rewarding opportunity to focus on one-on-one and small-group support, helping neurodiverse learners thrive while gaining invaluable experience in diverse educational settings.

Job Responsibility

  • Provide tailored, one-on-one support for pupils with diverse needs, including Autism (ASD), ADHD, global development delay, or speech and language difficulties
  • Implement structured individual education plans (IEPs) and adapt learning resources to make the curriculum accessible and engaging
  • Use positive behavior management and de-escalation strategies to create a safe, reassuring classroom environment
  • Assist with emotional and sensory regulation, helping pupils navigate their school day calmly and confidently
  • Collaborate closely with class teachers, Special Educational Needs Coordinators (SENCOs), and parents to track and report on student progress

Requirements

  • A relevant Level 2 or Level 3 qualification (or significant, verifiable experience working with SEN pupils)
  • Direct experience supporting children with additional needs within an educational or care setting
  • A patient, resilient, and deeply nurturing approach to behavior and learning support
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt quickly to established school routines
  • An Enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (essential to ensure an immediate start)

What we offer

  • Competitive weekly pay strictly via PAYE, meaning absolutely no umbrella fees or hidden deductions, plus enrollment in our pension scheme
  • Access to local primary and specialist positions unavailable elsewhere, easily viewed and booked via our mobile app
  • Access free online courses, including specialist SEN insights, continuous professional development, and Safeguarding Levels 1 & 2
  • A dedicated consultant to help you secure roles that match your specific skill set and oversee your legal rights (AWR)
