The role is available on a contract basis, offering substantial potential for continuity or conversion to a permanent post.
Job Responsibility:
Deliver targeted, high-calibre assistance to students on an individual or small-group basis, helping them to meet their personal developmental and EHCP objectives within the adapted curriculum
Support the Class Teacher by preparing and managing teaching aids, maintaining an inclusive learning space, and assisting with general classroom routines
Provide compassionate and professional assistance with personal care needs (including feeding, personal hygiene, and mobility), always upholding student dignity
Implement bespoke communication methods (e.g., PECS or Makaton) and established positive handling strategies as directed by senior staff and specialists
Maintain clear, accurate records of student engagement, behaviour incidents, and academic milestones, communicating any concerns promptly to the appropriate staff
Contribute effectively to the overall school community, rigorously following all child protection and school protocols
Requirements:
Significant, demonstrable professional experience as a Support Worker or Teaching Assistant, ideally within a complex needs or SEN setting
Proven capability to effectively support pupils with a complex array of needs (e.g., PMLD, SLD, ASC)
A robust combination of exceptional patience, emotional resilience, flexibility, and a deep-seated vocational passion for supporting students with learning barriers
Familiarity with specialised communication systems and proactive behaviour management techniques
A mandatory current Enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service, or immediate willingness to obtain one
Nice to have:
While formal qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 TA) are valued, extensive, high-quality practical experience supporting relevant needs will be given full consideration
