Job Description:

GSL Education are seeking a SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive SEN school in Compton. Many students also have additional needs such as autism, speech and language challenges, or medical conditions. The school offers a broad and balanced curriculum with a strong focus on outdoor learning, life skills, the arts, and preparation for adulthood. There is a whole-school emphasis on communication, independence, and personal development, ensuring pupils are well-prepared for their next stage in life. Staff are highly valued.

Job Responsibility:

Provide tailored one-to-one and group support
Encourage independence and life skills development
Support creative and outdoor learning activities
Foster confidence, self-esteem, and positive relationships
Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
Provide dedicated support to students with sensory and speech difficulties, helping them access the curriculum and succeed in the classroom
Implement behaviour management strategies and positively influence students’ learning experiences.

Requirements:

Must be able to drive
Passionate about working with children and young people with special needs
A strong communicator, confident working with students, staff, parents and professionals
Kind, patient and full of enthusiasm
Committed to the values of inclusion, respect and community
A team player who is also proactive and reflective
Experience is helpful, but a positive attitude and willingness to learn are even more important.
