SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant | Full Time | Long-Term Role | Are you ready to be the support that turns challenges into triumphs? Do you thrive in a role where your impact is felt every day? If yes, Randstad Education welcomes you. We are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team on a full-time, long-term basis. Location: Plymouth Start Date: Immediate This role is ideal for someone with experience supporting pupils with SEMH, SEND or behavioural needs, who can provide consistent, calm and positive support in the classroom and around school. About Our School We are a small, specialist secondary setting with: Small class sizes and high staff-to-pupil ratios; A trauma-informed and nurturing approach; A personalised curriculum combining academic learning and personal development; Clear expectations centred around being ready, respectful and safe. This is a Monday-Friday role (8:15am-4:30pm) on a long-term contract, with potential for extension. Why Join Us? Job Responsibility:

  • Support KS3-KS4 pupils with SEMH needs in and out of the classroom
  • Assist teachers with lesson delivery and differentiation
  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support
  • Help manage behaviour and promote emotional regulation
  • Support pupils working off timetable or requiring additional supervision
  • Build strong, positive relationships with pupils
  • Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff and external professionals

Requirements:

  • Experience working with SEN, SEMH, PRU or alternative provision pupils
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
  • A calm, resilient and consistent approach
  • Ability to build trust with vulnerable young people
  • A valid Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Availability to work full time

Nice to have:

  • Relevant TA qualifications or previous school experience
  • CACHE level 1 or 2
  • CACHE level 2 or 3
  • early childhood studies degree
