We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join an Additionally Resourced Base (ARB) within a welcoming school in the North Cornwall area. This is a full-time, permanent opportunity for someone passionate about supporting children with learning disabilities and complex needs. The ARB provides specialist support for pupils who require a more tailored learning environment, while still benefiting from being part of a mainstream school community.
Job Responsibility:
Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with learning disabilities and complex needs
Support pupils with personalised learning activities in line with their individual education plans (IEPs/EHCPs)
Assist the class teacher and SEN team in delivering adapted lessons and learning interventions
Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation, and social development
Use positive behaviour management strategies to support pupils with additional needs
Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and other professionals
Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
Requirements:
Experience working with children with SEN, learning disabilities, or complex needs
Patient, empathetic, and passionate about supporting children’s development
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Confident supporting pupils with additional communication or behavioural needs
Experience in areas such as autism, SEMH, speech and language needs, or sensory needs would be beneficial
Relevant qualifications or training in SEN support or childcare are desirable but not essential
Nice to have:
