Job Description

SEN Teaching Assistant Are you passionate about empowering children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities to reach their full potential? Do you believe nothing should stand in the way of a full education, personal development, or physical and emotional wellbeing? Our school is an innovative and creative environment dedicated to fostering growth in young people with a range of needs, including epilepsy, autism, and severe learning difficulties. Our purpose is to help them thrive and become valued members of their community. We offer an ambitious, well-designed curriculum, adapted to meet the diverse needs of all our learners in both School and College, with abundant opportunities for learning both inside and outside the classroom. We are proud of our great facilities that support a wide range of learning and developmental activities. We personalize learning, focusing on "My" experiences, and tailor our communication approaches to each individual. Our learning environments are safe, comfortable, and flexible, designed for fun and confidence-building. We maintain small class sizes with mixed age ranges to provide highly individualised support. Beyond academics, we nurture independence, teamwork, life skills, physical and mental health, empathy, and a passion for lifelong learning. We are looking for enthusiastic and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to join our compassionate team. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to an environment where every young person is supported to grow, nurture their talents, and truly thrive. The Role As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be instrumental in delivering our ambitious and personalized curriculum. You will: Provide tailored support to pupils and students within small, mixed-age classes, adapting your approach to meet their individual learning styles and communication preferences. Assist in creating a safe, comfortable, and flexible learning environment where students can build confidence through fun and engaging activities, making the most of our excellent facilities. Support the implementation of our curriculum both within the classroom and through various discreet opportunities for learning outside. Help foster essential life skills, independence, teamwork, and overall physical and emotional wellbeing. Collaborate closely with teachers, therapists, and other staff to ensure a cohesive and supportive experience for each young person. Encourage communication skills that students can build on throughout life. We're looking for individuals who are: Deeply committed to the personal development and educational success of children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities. Patient, adaptable, and empathetic, with a strong belief in every individual's potential. Creative and flexible in their approach to learning and support. Excellent communicators, capable of building rapport with young people and working effectively within a multidisciplinary team. Eager to engage in continuous learning and professional growth. Previous experience in a SEN environment or working with individuals with complex needs is beneficial but not essential, as comprehensive training will be provided. A driver is highly desirable as the school can be challenging to reach via public transport. What we offer: A truly rewarding role in an innovative and supportive educational environment. The chance to significantly impact the lives of young people, helping them achieve academic success and lead happy, fulfilled lives. Opportunities for professional development and training in specialized areas. A collaborative and dedicated team committed to our guiding principles.
