Job Description

SEN Teaching Assistant. Are you a passionate and dedicated educator looking to make a lasting difference in the lives of children with complex communication needs? Do you have the empathy, patience, and creativity required to support younger learners in a specialist setting? Are you looking for a secure, full-time role to start this upcoming academic year? If so, Randstad Education wants to hear from you. We are currently recruiting a dedicated and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant for a rewarding position starting in September 2026. Based at a fantastic specialist school site in the Boston Spa area, this full-time role is on a long-term basis, with the genuine potential to lead to a permanent contract. Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday (Term-time only). Start Date: September 2026. Location: Boston Spa Area (Specialist School Environment).

Job Responsibility

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support to school-aged pupils, helping them fully engage with the curriculum and classroom activities
  • Assisting the class teacher in adapting learning resources and managing the classroom environment to ensure it is safe and highly supportive
  • Helping students develop their social skills, emotional regulation, and communication independence during lessons and break times
  • Monitoring and recording small-step progress, ensuring all pastoral and safeguarding protocols are strictly followed.

Requirements

  • Full eligibility to work in the UK (visa sponsorship is not available)
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service, or a willingness to undergo a new check via Randstad
  • Previous experience working with children with special educational needs within the UK (sensory impairments or communication difficulties are highly desirable)
  • A genuine passion for creating inclusive learning environments where every child can thrive.
