This is a full-time position with the opportunity to secure a permanent contract for the right candidate. The school provides specialist, high-quality education for learners aged 3–19 with moderate to complex learning difficulties. Staff work collaboratively to create a nurturing, inclusive, and engaging environment where every pupil is supported to achieve their full potential. The Role: As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils both inside and outside the classroom. You will work closely with teachers and other professionals to deliver tailored support, helping students access learning, develop independence, and achieve positive outcomes.
Job Responsibility
Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with additional learning needs
Assist teachers in delivering engaging and differentiated learning activities
Support pupils with communication, social, emotional, and behavioural needs
Encourage independence and promote positive learning experiences
Assist with personal care where required
Help create a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment
Monitor and record pupil progress and contribute to reviews and planning meetings
Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families
Requirements
Previous experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) is desirable
Experience supporting individuals with moderate to complex learning difficulties is advantageous
A patient, caring, and resilient approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
A genuine passion for supporting children and young people with additional needs
Ability to adapt to the varying needs of pupils and the school environment
