Job Description

We are currently recruiting a calm, patient and resilient Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEND school in the Burgess Hill area. This full-time, ongoing role involves supporting children with a range of special educational needs within a structured, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.

Job Responsibility

  • Supporting children with a range of special educational needs within a structured, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
  • Helping pupils feel safe, supported, and engaged in their learning
  • Working closely with teaching and support staff
  • Providing consistent, individualised support
  • Adapting approach to meet each student’s emotional, behavioural, and learning needs

Requirements

  • Experience supporting children with SEND (including SEMH, ASD, or additional needs)
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and organisational skills
  • Confidence supporting pupils within the classroom
  • A proactive, resilient, and compassionate attitude
  • Right to work in the UK or hold a valid work visa
  • Provide suitable references for pre-employment checks
  • Hold an enhanced DBS on the Children’s Workforce (or Children’s & Adults’) update service, or be willing to obtain one
