Job Description

A lovely and welcoming primary school in Redruth is seeking a caring, patient, and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 4 pupil with Special Educational Needs. This rewarding role involves supporting a pupil with limited communication needs and providing personal care where required. Full epilepsy training will be provided for the successful candidate. The school is looking for someone who is compassionate, calm, and committed to helping children thrive in a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment. You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to support the pupil’s learning, confidence, independence, and overall wellbeing.

Job Responsibility

  • Provide 1:1 classroom and pastoral support for a pupil with SEN
  • Adapt learning activities to meet the pupil’s individual needs
  • Support the pupil’s emotional, social, and behavioural development
  • Encourage independence and positive engagement in learning
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, parents, and external professionals
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback on the pupil’s development
  • Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment
  • Assist with personal care needs when required

Requirements

  • Experience working with children with SEN (school-based experience desirable)
