Are you a compassionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding opportunity in Peterborough? We are seeking enthusiastic individuals to support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) across a range of welcoming and supportive school settings. Whether you have previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Support Worker, Youth Worker, or Sports Coach, we would love to hear from you. We are particularly interested in candidates who have experience supporting children with Autism (ASD), ADHD, SEMH, and other additional learning needs, as well as those who are confident in managing challenging behaviour and building positive relationships with pupils. A background in sports coaching is highly desirable, as it provides valuable skills in behaviour management, pupil engagement, resilience building, and teamwork.
Job Responsibility
Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with SEN
Support students in accessing learning activities and achieving their individual targets
Assist class teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons
Implement effective behaviour management strategies to promote positive learning environments
Support pupils with their social, emotional, and academic development
Encourage independence, confidence, and participation in classroom activities
Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and parents to support pupil progress
Requirements
Previous experience working with children or young people
Experience supporting pupils with SEN is highly desirable
Strong behaviour management skills and the ability to build positive relationships
Patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Sports coaching, youth work, care, mentoring, or support work experience is advantageous
A genuine passion for supporting children and helping them reach their full potential
Nice to have
Experience supporting children with Autism (ASD), ADHD, SEMH, and other additional learning needs
Background in sports coaching
