Are you a compassionate and resilient professional looking to make a meaningful impact in a close-knit, supportive educational community? We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our partner SEN School in the heart of St Ives. This school is renowned for its welcoming atmosphere and its commitment to providing a tailored, sensory-rich education for students with Autism (ASC), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), and speech and language challenges. Communication Support: Empower students using Makaton, PECS, and visual timetables, ensuring every learner has a functional way to communicate their needs and choices
Proactive Regulation: Identify environmental triggers early and utilise 'quiet zones' or sensory breaks to help students maintain emotional balance and focus
Academic Scaffolding: Assist the Class Teacher in modifying lesson materials, ensuring that subjects like Literacy and Numeracy are accessible and engaging for all
Progress Tracking: Document 'small-step' victories and behavioural observations to provide vital evidence for EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) reviews
Community & Life Skills: Support students during local outings and practical life-skills sessions, helping them build confidence in real-world settings
