We are recruiting on behalf of a dedicated specialist primary school that supports pupils aged 6-11 on the autism spectrum. The school provides a safe, nurturing environment for each child to flourish and your role will be to help facilitate that growth. You will join a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team focused on delivering a broad, creative curriculum and supporting a teacher in the delivery of lessons for individual pupils. Job Responsibility
Establish warm, caring, and supportive relationships with pupils to ensure they feel safe, secure, and ready to learn
Encourage personal development and independence in daily tasks and social interactions
Assist the Class Teacher with the day-to-day running of the classroom and adapt to the evolving needs of the school
Support the cognitive, social, emotional, behavioural, and physical development of each pupil
Adapt to various tasks to ensure smooth school operations
Requirements
Minimum GCSE Grade 4 (or equivalent) in English and Maths
A Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential
Prior experience working within a special educational needs (SEN) or special school environment
Able to provide your own vehicle preferred due to the site's semi-rural location
Strong understanding of safeguarding principles and child protection procedures
Eligibility to work in the UK
The candidate will be required to undergo a full enhanced DBS check
Nice to have
A Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
