We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) primary school setting. This role involves working closely with primary-aged pupils who have a range of learning disabilities and complex needs, providing tailored support to help them access education and achieve their full potential.
Job Responsibility:
Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEN, including those with SEMH needs, learning disabilities, and complex behaviours
Assist the class teacher in delivering differentiated lessons that meet individual learning needs
Support pupils in developing social, emotional, and behavioural skills through consistent and positive approaches
Implement individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support strategies
Help create a safe, nurturing, and structured learning environment
Monitor and record pupil progress, providing feedback to teachers and other professionals
Support with personal care where required
Promote inclusion and encourage pupil independence both in and outside the classroom
Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to support pupil development
Requirements:
Experience working with children with SEN, particularly SEMH needs, learning disabilities, or complex needs
A patient, resilient, and empathetic approach
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Ability to manage challenging behaviour in a calm and consistent manner
Relevant qualifications (e.g., CACHE Level 2/3, or equivalent) are desirable but not essential
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
