We are looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a high-achieving specialist school in Bury St Edmunds. This is a full-time, long-term role where you will work with students who have a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), Moderate to Severe Learning Difficulties (MLD/SLD), and Physical Disabilities. Job Responsibility:
1:1 Academic Support: break down classroom tasks into manageable steps, using visual aids and tactile resources
Communication Enablement: support non-verbal or pre-verbal students using alternative communication methods such as PECS or Makaton
Sensory & Physical Care: assist with sensory circuits and, where required, provide support with personal care or mobility
Behavioral Coaching: use positive reinforcement and de-escalation strategies to help students manage their emotions
EHCP Progress Tracking: work closely with the Class Teacher to observe, record, and report on the specific targets outlined in a student's Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)
Requirements:

Resilience: ability to remain calm and proactive in a fast-paced environment
Previous Experience: experience in SEN, care, youth work, or a similar background is highly valued
Strong Communication: ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
Compliance: an enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to apply for one)
