We are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Royston. This role offers the opportunity for both long-term supply and permanent placement for the right candidate. You will be supporting students with a range of needs, including Autism (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and complex communication challenges.
Job Responsibility:
1:1 Learning Scaffolding: Work closely with individual students to break down academic tasks into sensory-friendly, manageable steps
Communication Support: Assist students using Makaton, PECS, or visual aids
Sensory & Emotional Regulation: Monitor student wellbeing, identifying triggers for sensory overload and guiding students to calm-down zones or sensory circuits
EHCP Goal Tracking: Collaborate with the Class Teacher to observe and document progress toward specific Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) targets
Personal Care & Dignity: Provide essential support with mobility, meal times, and personal care
