Job Description:

SEN Teaching Assistants are needed to join an exceptional school in Cranleigh, Surrey, aimed at supporting children aged 7-19 with autism spectrum conditions (ASC). The school offers a nurturing, innovative, and stimulating environment with excellent facilities, small class sizes, and an emphasis on personalized learning. Responsibilities include supporting students in the classroom, assisting teachers, managing behavior, and fostering a positive atmosphere. Ideal candidates are passionate, patient, and caring, with experience in education, PECs, or speech and language skills considered an advantage.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide support to students in the classroom
  • assist teachers with lessons
  • provide individualised support
  • help create a positive learning environment
  • collaborate with the class teacher to implement personalized learning plans
  • support students with a range of needs, including activities, behaviour management, and personal care
  • create a positive and encouraging atmosphere
  • promote a sense of safety, belonging, and well-being
  • engage in ongoing professional development and training

Requirements:

  • A valid DBS check
  • a full driving licence (preferred)
  • genuine passion for working with children with autism spectrum conditions
  • patience, caring, and enthusiasm for supporting learners
  • experience working in education, children's homes, or EYFS (desirable)
  • experience with Picture Exchange Communication Systems (PECs) or other communication tools for non-verbal learners (desirable)
  • experience with speech & language or BSL (desirable)
