Your Role as an SEN Advocate As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you are the student's bridge to the world, ensuring their environment is safe, inclusive, and stimulating. Personalised Learning: Follow and implement EHCP goals, adapting classroom activities to meet the specific sensory and cognitive needs of the student. Communication Support: Utilise alternative communication methods such as PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System), Makaton, or AAC devices to give every child a voice. Emotional Regulation: Act as a "calm consistent" presence, recognising early signs of distress and using sensory breaks or de-escalation strategies to support the student's wellbeing.
