We are seeking a compassionate and proactive SEN Teaching Assistant to join a highly regarded specialist school in Ely. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity to work within a purpose-built environment supporting children and young people with diverse needs, including Autism (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and sensory processing differences. In this Ely-based role, your presence won't just support a classroom; it will provide the safety and consistency a student needs to truly flourish.
Job Responsibility:
Targeted 1:1 Mentorship: Deliver personalised, sensory-integrated activities that cater to the specific cognitive and emotional profile of your assigned student
Communication Advocacy: Empower students using PECS, Makaton, or high-tech AAC devices, ensuring every learner has a voice in their education
Sensory Regulation: Identify environmental triggers early and utilise "brain breaks" or sensory circuit sessions to help students maintain emotional balance
Progress Tracking: Collaborate with the Class Teacher to document "small-step" achievements that form the evidence for Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) reviews
Dignified Personal Care: Assist with mobility, meal times, and personal hygiene with the highest level of respect, maintaining the student's comfort and privacy
Multidisciplinary Teamwork: Work alongside therapists and specialist teachers to provide a unified and predictable support system for every pupil
Requirements:
Resilient Empathy: The ability to remain a calm and co-regulating influence during periods of high pressure or student dysregulation
Proactive Spirit: A "can-do" attitude-you anticipate needs and prepare resources before being asked, ensuring the school day runs smoothly
Unwavering Reliability: Our students find change difficult
we need a dedicated professional who will be a consistent, dependable figure in their daily routine
Transferable Experience: Backgrounds in support work, psychology, care, or youth coaching are highly valued, though a genuine heart for SEN is the essential requirement
Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process a new one through Randstad)
What we offer:
Competitive PAYE Rates: £90 - £95 per day
Ely Stability: Secure a consistent, full-time role in a school that prides itself on its inclusive culture and supportive leadership
Specialist CPD: Access free, certified training in Team Teach, Autism Awareness, and Advanced Safeguarding
Personalised Support: Work with Neeraj, your dedicated consultant who understands the Cambridgeshire and Ely SEN landscapes
