We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a highly regarded specialist school in Wilburton. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity to work within a purpose-built environment supporting children and young people with complex needs, including Autism (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and sensory processing challenges. In Wilburton, you won't just be "assisting"-you will be an essential lifeline for students navigating their educational journey.
Job Responsibility:
1:1 Adaptive Support: Work closely with individual students to deliver personalised learning tasks that align with their cognitive and sensory needs.
Communication Support: Help students express themselves through Makaton, PECS (Picture Exchange Communication System), or AAC devices, ensuring their voice is always heard.
Regulation & Wellbeing: Monitor students for signs of sensory overload and lead "brain breaks" or sensory circuit activities to help them stay regulated.
EHCP Milestone Tracking: Assist the Class Teacher in documenting the "small-step" progress students make toward their Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) goals.
Personal Care with Dignity: Provide essential support with mobility, meal times, and personal hygiene, maintaining the student's comfort and respect at all times.
Team Synergy: Work as part of a tight-knit classroom team, collaborating with TAs and Teachers to ensure a safe and predictable environment.
Requirements:
Resilient Empathy: The ability to remain a grounded, co-regulating presence during periods of challenging behaviour or student distress.
Proactive Engagement: A "ready-for-anything" attitude-you are quick to pivot activities to suit a student's mood and energy levels.
Consistency: Our students thrive on routine
we need a dependable professional who will be a familiar face in their school week.
Transferable Skills: Experience in care, support work, psychology, or the arts is highly valued, but a genuine passion for special education is the most important factor.
Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process one through Randstad).
What we offer:
Competitive PAYE Rates: £90 - £95 per day, with transparent weekly pay and no umbrella company fees.
Wilburton Stability: Secure a consistent, full-time role in a supportive school community located in the heart of the village.
Specialist CPD: Access our free, certified training suite, including Team Teach, Autism Awareness, and Safeguarding.
Personalised Support: Work with Neeraj, your dedicated consultant who specialises in the Cambridgeshire and East Cambs SEN markets.
Referral Bonus: Earn a £300 voucher for every friend or colleague you successfully refer to the Randstad family!
