Teaching Assistant (SEMH) – 30.5 Hours per week Hours: 9am - 3.30pm Location: Helston, Cornwall Term Time Only + INSET Days About the School: We are working with a specialist primary school supporting pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Located in a beautiful and inspiring part of Cornwall, they provide a nurturing, supportive, and highly personalised learning environment where every child is encouraged to achieve their full potential. This dedicated team is passionate about helping pupils develop academically, socially, and emotionally through positive relationships, tailored support, and a child-centred approach to learning. The Role: We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join the team for 30.5 hours per week, term time only, plus INSET days. This is a highly rewarding opportunity to support pupils with SEMH needs, helping them to engage with learning, develop confidence, and achieve positive outcomes both inside and outside the classroom. Working closely with teachers and other professionals, you will provide individual and small-group support, contribute to behaviour and emotional regulation strategies, and help create a safe and inclusive learning environment. Key Responsibilities: - Support pupils with SEMH needs to access learning and achieve their individual targets. - Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to encourage engagement and emotional wellbeing. - Assist in the delivery of tailored learning activities and interventions. - Support the implementation of behaviour support plans and emotional regulation strategies. - Promote positive behaviour, resilience, and independence. - Work collaboratively with teaching staff and other professionals to meet pupils' needs. - Contribute to a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment. - Support pupils during classroom activities, outdoor learning, and enrichment opportunities.
