We are looking for a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a highly-regarded SEN School in Bury St Edmunds. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity to work within a dedicated environment supporting children and young people with complex needs, including Autism (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and sensory processing differences.
Job Responsibility:
1:1 Mentorship: Work closely with assigned students to deliver tailored, sensory-friendly activities
Communication Bridge: Facilitate student expression through Makaton signs, PECS cards, or visual schedules
Emotional Co-Regulation: Identify early signs of sensory overwhelm and use calming techniques
EHCP Milestone Tracking: Assist the Class Teacher in documenting steps toward Education, Health and Care Plan goals
Personal Care with Dignity: Provide essential support with mobility, meal times, and personal hygiene
Collaborative Support: Partner with a skilled team of Teachers and Therapists
