Job Description:

As a Teaching Assistant in our Cranleigh school, you will help create a positive learning environment, offer individual support to pupils, particularly those with SEND, and assist staff with preparation and record-keeping.

Job Responsibility:

  • Helping students communicate using Makaton, signs, symbols or communication aids through a multi-sensory approach
  • Providing guidance when students feel anxious, emotional or frustrated and supporting them to manage their feelings and behaviour
  • Working as part of a skilled, dedicated and supportive team with comprehensive training and mentoring
  • Support with core subjects (literacy, numeracy, PSHE) and daily living skills

Requirements:

  • A patient, caring and positive attitude
  • A valid DBS check or willingness to obtain one
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Previous experience working with children in a school setting

Nice to have:

  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or working with children is desirable
  • ability to track progression in attainment
