We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our partner schools in Chelmsford. This role involves working within a supportive environment-either in a mainstream secondary SEN department or a dedicated specialist school-supporting students with a variety of needs, including Autism (ASD), ADHD, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
Job Responsibility:
1:1 & Small Group Support: Provide tailored academic and emotional support to students, helping them access the curriculum at a pace that works for them
EHCP Implementation: Work closely with the SENCO to deliver the specific goals outlined in a student's Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP)
Inclusion Advocacy: Act as a bridge between the student and the wider classroom, ensuring they feel included and supported during all school activities
Behavioural Coaching: Use positive reinforcement and de-escalation techniques to help students manage their emotions and stay engaged with their learning
Progress Tracking: Observe and record student development, providing valuable feedback to teachers and parents to ensure a consistent approach to their care
Resource Adaptation: Help modify learning materials (such as using visual aids or simplified instructions) to suit the individual needs of the learner
