Job Description

SEN Teaching Assistant - KS3 & KS4 | Full-Time, Permanent. Location: Worthing. Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent. Setting: Innovative SEN & Part-Residential School (Ages 8-19). Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people? Do you want to empower learners with Special Educational Needs (SEN) to lead fully independent and enriched lives? We are urgently seeking a resilient, fun, and creative SEN Teaching Assistant to join a highly commended, 'Ofsted Good' SEN school. If you have experience in care or education or personal experience with SEN and a desire to support students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, we want to hear from you.

Job Responsibility

  • Providing tailored support to learners on a 1:1, small group, and wider classroom basis
  • Assisting students with various SEN requirements, focusing heavily on SEMH needs
  • Fostering a love for learning while guiding students toward independence
  • Communicating effectively with parents and carers regarding pupil progress
  • Actively participating in departmental meetings, parents' evenings, and whole-school training events

Requirements

  • Experience: 6 to 12 months of experience in a care, education, or learning support environment
  • Qualifications: GCSEs in Maths and English (or equivalent) and eligibility to work in the UK
  • Mindset: A flexible, resilient, and positive approach to supporting learners with complex needs

Nice to have

Direct SEN experience is highly desirable, though candidates with a strong care background or those with personal SEN experience looking to transition into education are encouraged to apply
