We are seeking a proactive SEN Teaching Assistant for an immediate start at a truly remarkable SEN School in Thetford. Job Responsibility:
Tailored support: work 1:1 and in small groups to help students engage with sensory-based and academic activities
positive behaviour support: implement personalised strategies to help students manage their emotions and navigate the school day in a calm, low-arousal manner
personal care & wellbeing: assist with the physical and emotional needs of students, ensuring they feel safe, respected, and ready to learn
communication advocacy: utilise tools such as PECS, Makaton, or visual timetables to help non-verbal or semi-verbal students express themselves
collaborative working: partner with the class teacher and therapy teams (Speech & Language, OT) to follow Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
celebrating milestones: foster a positive environment where every small victory-from improved social interaction to a new skill mastered-is celebrated
Requirements:
Experience or passion
prior experience in SEN is beneficial, but we also welcome individuals from care, sports coaching, or youth work backgrounds who possess the right can-do attitude
