If so, Horizon Care and Education is looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team. Brewood School is an independent specialist day school providing high-quality education for boys and girls. Based in Deal in Kent, Brewood School meets the diverse needs of pupils aged 11-18 with Special Educational Needs (SEN) including Speech, Language, and Communication Needs (SLCN), Autism, ADHD, Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA), and Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs (SEMH). Job Responsibility

  • Assisting students in their educational and social development
  • Provide support inside and outside of the classroom, so they can fully engage in a wide range of activities
  • Help to set up activities for students, using technology or adjusting the environment to suit their needs
  • Support teachers, engaging with students, providing learning support, and reacting to situations in the classroom in a positive, non-disruptive manner
  • Working 1:1 with some students, to give them the time and support they need to learn

Requirements

  • Experience of working with children who have behavioural support needs with a good knowledge of behavioural management techniques and strategies
  • Grade C or above GCSE in English and Math, or L1/2 equivalent functional skills qualification
  • Hold or be willing to work towards a recognised teaching assistant qualification
