Job Responsibility
Follow and implement EHCP goals, adapting classroom activities to meet the specific sensory and cognitive needs of the student
Utilise alternative communication methods such as PECS, Makaton, or AAC devices to give every child a voice
Act as a 'calm consistent' presence, recognising early signs of distress and using sensory breaks or de-escalation strategies to support the student's wellbeing
Work closely with the Class Teacher, SENCO, and external therapists to ensure a holistic approach to the child's development and safety
Requirements
Are exceptionally patient
Have relevant experience - This could be from a school, care setting, personal experience with family, or volunteering with SEND charities
Are a team player - you can take direction from specialists while using your own initiative to support the student's daily routine
Are committed - you hold an enhanced DBS on the update service (or are willing to apply) and are 100% dedicated to Safeguarding
