We are seeking a dedicated Part-Time Primary Teaching Assistant to join our vibrant team at a local primary school, situated near Newquay in Cornwall. This role is integral to our commitment to providing a nurturing, inclusive, and inspiring learning environment where every child is valued and supported to reach their full potential. Working on a 1:1 basis with a child in Key Stage 1 who has special educational needs, the successful candidate will help foster a positive and enabling classroom atmosphere aligned with our ethos of personalised learning and holistic development. The position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to our school's caring community, with flexible hours designed to complement your commitments. The role is scheduled to commence as soon as possible and will be ongoing, subject to the needs of the child and school.
Job Responsibility
Provide tailored support to a child in Key Stage 1 on a 1:1 basis
assist with personalised learning plans
ensure full inclusion in classroom activities
support class teacher in planning and delivering appropriate learning activities
implement strategies to promote positive behaviour, social skills, and emotional well-being
assist with the child's personal care and daily routines
support development in literacy, numeracy, communication, and independence skills
contribute to a welcoming, caring, and stimulating classroom environment
collaborate with teaching staff, parents, and external professionals to review progress
maintain accurate records of development and observations.
Requirements
Dedicated and compassionate approach to supporting children with special educational needs
patience and ability to build positive relationships
strong communication and teamwork skills
experience working with children with SEN is desirable but not essential
commitment to inclusive and child-centred education
willingness to support personal care if required
relevant TA qualifications are desirable but not essential.
Nice to have
Experience working with children with SEN
relevant TA qualifications
experience in EYFS or KS1
training or experience in SEMH, ASD, or trauma-informed practice
relevant qualifications (Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, CACHE, or similar)
experience within an Alternative Provision setting.
