Are you an expert in managing ADHD within a secondary setting? Can you provide the bespoke emotional and academic scaffolding required to help two Year 10 students navigate the challenges of their GCSE years? Are you seeking a long-term role in Upminster that rewards your expertise with a guaranteed pay increase? We are seeking a resilient and highly experienced SEN Teaching Assistant for an immediate start at a reputable Secondary School in Upminster. This is a focused, high-impact role supporting two specific students in Year 10 (one boy and one girl) who both have a diagnosis of ADHD. Because these students are entering a critical phase of their education, prior experience with ADHD is essential. You will be their primary point of support, helping them manage impulsivity, maintain focus, and reach their full potential during their lessons.
Job Responsibility:
Targeted 1:1 Support: Work closely with two Year 10 students, alternating support to ensure they remain engaged with the curriculum and organised in their learning
Behavioural Coaching: Implement proactive ADHD management strategies, helping the students recognise their triggers and utilise self-regulation techniques
Academic Scaffolding: Break down complex GCSE-level tasks into manageable chunks, ensuring instructions are clear and achievable
Executive Function Support: Assist the students with time management, diary organisation, and task prioritisation to reduce anxiety and overload
Emotional Wellbeing: Act as a consistent, calm mentor for both students, building a relationship of trust that allows them to navigate the social and academic pressures of secondary school
Collaboration: Provide regular updates to the SENCO and subject teachers on the students' progress and the effectiveness of current support strategies
Requirements:
ADHD Expertise: Proven experience supporting secondary-aged students with ADHD, with a deep understanding of how it impacts learning and social interaction
Secondary Experience: Familiarity with the Year 10 curriculum and the ability to support students across a variety of GCSE subjects
Resilience & Patience: A thick skin and a calm demeanour, with the ability to remain professional and supportive during periods of high energy or frustration
Proactive Nature: The ability to read the room and intervene before a student becomes disengaged or overwhelmed
Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process a new one via Randstad)
What we offer:
Competitive & Increasing Pay: Start on £95 - £110 per day, with a guaranteed increase to £110 per day after 12 weeks in the role, in full compliance with Agency Workers Regulations (AWR)
Stable Long-Term Booking: This is a full-time, ongoing role providing you with income security and the chance to see the long-term impact of your work
Local Upminster Placement: Work in a well-connected school with excellent transport links and a supportive SEN department
Dedicated Advocacy: Work with your specialist consultant, who will ensure a smooth onboarding process and provide ongoing support
