Job Description

A supportive, friendly primary school in Worthing is searching for a confident SEN TA to work 1:1 with a Year 4 student with ASD who thrives with structure, gentle guidance and consistency. Job Responsibility

  • Working 1:1 with a Year 4 student with ASD
  • Providing clear routines and predictable transitions
  • Providing calm, structured classroom support
  • Helping with emotional regulation and focus
  • Providing gentle behaviour support using visuals and positive reinforcement
  • Supporting core learning (literacy, numeracy, small‑group tasks)
  • Providing strong relational connection and a safe, trusted adult presence
  • In‑class support and short, targeted interventions
  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENCo

Requirements

  • Experience supporting pupils with Autism (ASD) in KS2
  • Experience with emotional regulation strategies
  • Experience with visual timetables, social stories and structured routines
  • Experience building confidence and independence through gentle guidance
  • Experience working collaboratively with teachers and SEN staff
  • Must be calm, patient and child‑centred
  • Must be reliable, proactive and resilient
  • Must be able to build secure, positive relationships
  • Must be a real team player who communicates well
  • Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS check or Enhanced check for Regulated Activity with the Disclosure & Barring Services
