Job Description

Justteachers are seeking an enthusiastic and nurturing teacher with experience in PSHE, Health & Social Care, English or SMSC to join a progressive SEND school in St Helens. You will be part of a passionate, collaborative team within a specialist environment that supports young people aged 14–19 with a diverse range of SEND needs. In this role, you’ll play a key part in promoting personal development, emotional wellbeing, communication skills and life readiness, helping every learner thrive both academically and socially.

Job Responsibility

  • Deliver engaging, accessible lessons across PSHE, Health & Social Care, English or SMSC that meet the individual needs of pupils with varying SEND profiles
  • Plan and adapt learning activities to support personalised targets and promote independence, confidence and positive relationships
  • Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists and the wider SEND team to provide consistent, holistic support for each young person
  • Monitor and record progress, contribute to EHCP reviews, and maintain clear and accurate learning documentation
  • Foster a safe, inclusive and respectful classroom environment where all learners feel empowered, valued and understood

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is required
  • Strong experience working with children in a school or similar educational setting
  • Proven ability to support learners with a variety of SEND needs, including Autism, SEMH, and additional learning or behavioural needs
  • The capacity to remain calm, patient and resilient when responding to challenging situations
  • A genuine commitment to nurturing pupils’ learning, personal growth and holistic development

  • Maintain safeguarding protocols and participate actively in the school community
