SEN Teacher - £140 - £150 per day - Basildon. We are seeking a highly motivated Qualified SEN Teacher to join a dedicated specialist school in Basildon. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity to work within a community that champions neurodiversity. You will be leading a classroom of students with a variety of needs, including Autism (ASC), complex learning difficulties, and sensory processing differences. In this Ipswich-based role, you aren't just teaching a class; you are providing the tools for a more independent future.
Job Responsibility:
Personalised Curriculum Design: Transition from rigid lesson plans to fluid, student-centered learning that prioritizes functional communication and emotional wellbeing
Communication Empowerment: Utilise a "Total Communication" approach, employing Makaton, PECS, and visual prompts to reduce frustration and increase engagement
Regulation & Environment: Maintain a low-arousal, highly structured classroom that utilises sensory breaks and Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) to keep students in a "ready to learn" state
Progress Tracking: Use "small-steps" assessment tools to evidence growth against Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) targets, ensuring every milestone is recognised
Team Orchestration: Lead and empower a team of specialised Teaching Assistants, ensuring they are effectively deployed to support individual student needs
Family & Clinical Liaison: Work as part of a wider circle of care, communicating regularly with parents and collaborating with Speech and Language Therapists (SaLT)
Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Familiarity with evidence-based SEN strategies like Attention Autism, Sensory Stories, or the TEACCH framework
