We are looking for a passionate SEN Teacher to join a forward-thinking specialist school in Cambridge. This is a full-time, long-term role where you will lead a small class of students with a variety of complex needs, including Autism (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and communication barriers. In this setting, your success is measured not by standardised tests, but by the breakthroughs in confidence and independence your students achieve.
Job Responsibility:
Bespoke Lesson Delivery: Adapt the curriculum into highly visual and tactile activities that cater to diverse cognitive levels and sensory profiles
Communication Leadership: Foster a "Total Communication" environment, utilising Makaton, PECS, and high-tech AAC devices to ensure every student can express their needs and choices
Emotional Regulation Mastery: Implement Zones of Regulation and Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) to help students identify their feelings and utilise self-soothing tools
EHCP Management: Lead the assessment and tracking of Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) targets, ensuring that even the smallest steps of progress are recorded and celebrated
Team Mentorship: Direct and empower a dedicated team of Teaching Assistants, ensuring they are effectively deployed to facilitate 1:1 support and small-group interventions
Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Work alongside Speech and Language Therapists (SLTs), OTs, and parents to provide a holistic, 360-degree support network for your pupils
Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Familiarity with frameworks such as Attention Autism (Bucket Time), SCERTS, or TEACCH
Unshakeable Patience
