Do you have the clinical precision to track EHCP targets and the creative soul to turn a classroom into a multisensory world of discovery? If you are a qualified teacher who believes that a diagnosis should never be a ceiling on a child's potential, we have the perfect leadership role for you in Bury St Edmunds. We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teacher to take the helm of a small, specialised class. This is an environment where the 'National Curriculum' is a starting point, not a cage, and where your pedagogical flexibility will be your greatest asset.

Job Responsibility:

  • Custom Curriculum Design: build bespoke learning pathways for students with ASC, SLD, and SEMH
  • Lead and inspire a team of 2-3 Teaching Assistants
  • Use evidence-based interventions to engage learners
  • Act as the architect of each student's progress, setting ambitious yet achievable targets and leading annual reviews
  • Create a 'high-support, low-arousal' sanctuary where students feel safe to communicate

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Significant experience working with children with complex needs or severe learning difficulties
  • A deep understanding of how to differentiate for non-verbal learners and those with sensory processing disorders
  • The ability to remain a calm, stabilising force in a fast-paced and occasionally challenging environment
  • An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process a new one)
