We are seeking a Qualified SEN Teacher to lead a specialist classroom in Newmarket. This role is designed for a practitioner who thrives on the 'small-step' victories and possesses the pedagogical expertise to support students with Autism (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and complex communication needs. In this setting, you aren't just a teacher; you are a facilitator of independence and a champion for inclusive excellence.
Job Responsibility:
Develop and deliver a highly individualized curriculum that integrates academic milestones with sensory integration and functional life skills
Direct and inspire a team of Teaching Assistants
Lead a 'Total Communication' environment, modeling the use of Makaton, PECS, and visual aids
Manage the assessment and review process for Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
Implement Positive Behavior Support (PBS) frameworks
Work in close partnership with parents, the SENCO, and external therapists (OT/SLT)
Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience with evidence-based frameworks such as Attention Autism, SCERTS, or TEACCH
Ability to remain a grounded, co-regulating influence for students who may experience emotional dysregulation
A genuine drive to mentor support staff and advocate for the dignity and rights of students
An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process one through Randstad)
