SEN Teacher (Upper KS2) - Specialist School in Peterborough. Position: SEN Teacher (Upper KS2 Class). Location: Peterborough. Contract Type: Full-Time, Long-Term. Start Date: ASAP Start. Job Responsibility
Plan and deliver a highly creative, sensory-based, semi-formal curriculum, embedding early phonics and communication frameworks into daily routines
Implement robust PBS plans alongside a skilled team of support staff, utilising proactive de-escalation strategies to manage challenging behaviours safely and positively
Incorporate sensory breaks, dietary requirements for sensory regulation, and low-arousal teaching techniques into the classroom structure
Work closely with the class teaching assistants, speech and language therapists, and parents to ensure a consistent approach to communication and behaviour
Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification
Proven experience or a deep understanding of supporting non-verbal learners and implementing early literacy/phonics at a pre-key stage level
Real strength in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) - someone with a calm and reassuring presence who does not phase easily
Available for an immediate (ASAP) start
A valid Enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or a willingness to complete an urgent application)
