This school supports pupils with a range of needs, including Autism (ASD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and Speech, Language, and Communication Needs (SLCN).
Job Responsibility:
Bespoke Curriculum Delivery: Adapt the National Curriculum to meet the sensory and cognitive needs of pupils
EHCP Leadership: Work at the center of a multi-disciplinary team to implement and track Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) targets
Communication Specialist: Utilise PECS, Makaton, or Signalong to provide a voice for non-verbal or pre-verbal learners
Create a low-arousal classroom that promotes emotional regulation and reduces anxiety
Lead a team of dedicated Teaching Assistants to provide high-quality 1:1 and small group intervention
Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Proven experience teaching children with ASD, SLD, or complex needs (Special school or Mainstream SRP experience)
Adaptability to pivot lesson plans
Resilience and a calm, grounded approach to managing challenging behaviors
