We are currently recruiting for full-time and part-time SEN Support Mentors (8:45am-3:45pm) to join the dedicated team at our partnered Special Needs Schoolin Fishponds. Our parntered school is a highly respected specialist provision supporting children and young people aged 3-19 years with a wide range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). The school is known for its nurturing approach, highly skilled staff, and commitment to enabling every student to reach their full potential. As a SEN Support Mentor, you will support pupils across primary and secondary phases with a variety of complex needs, which may include: Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC); Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and Profound & Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD); Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN); Physical disabilities and medical needs; Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs; Sensory processing differences. You will play a vital role in helping pupils access learning, develop independence, and build essential life skills within a supportive and structured environment.
Job Responsibility
Providing 1:1 or small group support tailored to individual learning plans
Supporting communication, emotional regulation, and engagement
Assisting with personal care where required
Implementing behaviour support strategies
Helping create a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment
Requirements
Has experience working with children or young people with SEN (desirable but not essential)
Is confident supporting a range of needs, including complex and medical needs
Can manage and respond positively to challenging behaviour
Demonstrates strong communication and teamwork skills
Is patient, flexible, and proactive
Is comfortable supporting with personal care tasks
Is passionate about inclusion and helping every child succeed
