Job Responsibility
Supporting pupils with a wide spectrum of additional needs, including Autism (ASD), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
Assisting the class teacher in delivering sensory-based and highly differentiated learning activities
Utilising Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and proactive de-escalation strategies to handle challenging behaviours calmly and safely
Helping pupils develop functional communication skills (often working alongside non-verbal learners using PECS or Makaton) and independent life skills
Requirements
Resilient, warm, and highly patient personality
Previous experience supporting children or adults with additional needs, vulnerabilities, or complex behaviours (professional, voluntary, or personal experience)
Adaptable mindset
Valid Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one immediately)
