We are seeking a versatile and creative Qualified Teacher (QTS) with a passion for both Science and Humanities to join our partner SEN School in Ipswich. In a specialist setting, the boundaries between subjects often blur; we need a teacher who can lead a 'Discovery-based' curriculum for KS3 and KS4 students with Autism (ASC) and Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD). This is a role for a storyteller and an explorer-someone who can make the world (and the universe) make sense to students who learn differently.
Job Responsibility:
Interdisciplinary Lesson Design: Create 'Theme-based' units that combine Science and Humanities
Sensory-Rich Delivery: Transform abstract concepts into tangible experiences
Adaptive Scaffolding: Adapt the KS3/KS4 curriculum into 'small-step' objectives that align with EHCP outcomes
Total Communication: Expertly use Makaton, visual symbols, and simplified glossaries
Positive Co-Regulation: Maintain a low-arousal classroom environment using Positive Behaviour Support
TA Mentorship: Lead a dedicated team of Teaching Assistants
