Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a compassionate and committed SEN Primary Teaching Assistant to support pupils within primary school settings. This role is ideal for someone with a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs and helping them achieve their full potential. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who have a range of special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, and social, emotional, and mental health needs. Support may be provided on a one-to-one basis or in small groups, both in and out of the classroom. Key responsibilities include: Providing tailored one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEN Supporting pupils to access the curriculum and engage in learning activities Assisting with behaviour management using positive reinforcement strategies Supporting pupils with communication, emotional regulation, and social interaction Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to follow individual education plans (IEPs) Encouraging independence, confidence, and self-esteem Supporting learning in core subjects such as literacy and numeracy Assisting with classroom preparation and adapting resources where required Providing pastoral care and emotional support throughout the school day Supervising pupils during break times, lunchtimes, and school activities We are looking for someone who: Has experience supporting children with SEN in a school or similar setting Is patient, resilient, and empathetic Can build strong, positive relationships with pupils and staff Is confident supporting behaviour and emotional needs Works well as part of a team and follows school policies This is a rewarding opportunity to gain valuable experience within supportive primary schools while making a meaningful difference to children who require additional support.
