Job Description:

Are you a Primary Teacher who believes that the most important lessons aren't found in a textbook, but in the moments a child finds their voice, their confidence, and their independence? We are seeking an inspired and highly skilled Qualified Primary Teacher (QTS) to lead a class within our partner 'Outstanding' SEN School in Cambridge. This role is designed for an educator who looks past a diagnosis to see a learner's potential. You will be responsible for a small class of primary-aged pupils with Autism (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), and complex communication needs, requiring a teacher who can blend high-quality pedagogy with a deeply nurturing approach.

Job Responsibility:

  • Adaptive Curriculum Design: Take the Primary National Curriculum and translate it into 'small-step,' sensory-rich learning journeys tailored to individual EHCP outcomes
  • Communication Leadership: Create a 'Total Communication' environment, expertly using Makaton, PECS, and high-tech AAC devices to ensure every child is heard
  • Positive Co-Regulation: Design and maintain a low-arousal classroom environment, using Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) to help students feel safe and regulated
  • Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Work in close partnership with onsite Speech and Language Therapists (SaLT), Occupational Therapists (OT), and parents to provide a 360-degree support system
  • Team Management: Lead and inspire a team of 2-3 specialised Teaching Assistants, ensuring they are effectively deployed to facilitate 1:1 and small-group learning
  • Holistic Assessment: Use specialist tracking tools (such as P-Scales or similar frameworks) to record and celebrate the functional, social, and academic progress of your pupils

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Mandatory. We welcome experienced Primary teachers or ECTs with a proven heart for special education
  • Specialist Pedagogy: Familiarity with (or a hunger to master) frameworks such as Attention Autism, TEACCH, and Sensory Stories
  • Resilient Compassion: The ability to remain a calm, steady influence for your students, even during periods of high dysregulation
  • Creative Innovation: A knack for turning everyday objects into learning tools and finding 'the hook' that engages a neurodiverse learner
  • Compliance: An enhanced Child DBS on the Update Service (or a willingness to process a new one urgently via Randstad)
What we offer:
  • Elite Daily Rates: £150 - £220 per day
  • Cambridge Center of Excellence: Work in a school with world-class facilities, including sensory rooms, hydrotherapy pools, and expansive outdoor learning spaces
  • Advanced Professional Growth: Access free, certified CPD in Team Teach, Moving and Handling, and Advanced Safeguarding
  • Personal Advocacy: Work with Neeraj, your dedicated consultant who understands the Cambridge SEN market and will support your career goals
  • Referral Bonus: Earn a £300 voucher for every qualified teacher you successfully refer to our team
