Job Description

Are you passionate about supporting children with special educational needs? We are currently looking for a dedicated and nurturing SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive primary SEN school from September. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of pupils with a range of additional needs, including autism, ADHD, and speech and language difficulties.

Job Responsibility

  • Supporting children 1:1 and in small groups, under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCO
  • Helping to implement individual education plans (IEPs)
  • Promoting a safe, engaging and inclusive learning environment
  • Supporting pupils with personal care where required
  • Using positive behaviour management strategies to support emotional regulation

Requirements

  • Experience working with children with SEN (in a school, care, or voluntary setting)
  • A calm, patient and empathetic approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine passion for helping children reach their full potential
  • An enhanced DBS on the update service (or willing to apply for one)
  • Right to work in the UK (no sponsorship available)

  • Practical Assistance: Preparing and maintaining resources, assisting with the supervision of students during on and off-site activities, and undertaking duties with the Pupil and Family Support Team
  • Care and Safety: Promoting and ensuring the health and safety of pupils, carrying out intimate care and administering medicines to identified individuals (within an agreed safeguarding structure), and, as a last resort, using restrictive physical intervention in line with school policy
