Job Description:

A fantastic specialist SEMH school set in the beautiful West Sussex countryside is looking for a full‑time SEN Primary Age Cover Teacher to join their team as soon as possible. This is a superb opportunity to make a real impact working with pupils who need stability, consistency, and a teacher who can bring calm, creativity and structure to the classroom. There will be a handover period before Easter, with the expectation of taking on the class independently from after the Easter break.

Job Responsibility:

  • Teach primary‑aged pupils (mainly Years 5 & 6, with flexibility to support Years 1–4 when needed)
  • Deliver well‑structured, differentiated lessons tailored to SEMH and SEND needs
  • Build strong, trusting relationships that promote emotional regulation and engagement
  • Work collaboratively with the school’s therapeutic and pastoral teams
  • Support pupils with behaviour, communication and self-esteem in a nurturing environment
  • Take responsibility for planning and preparation, with support during handover

Requirements:

  • Hold a paper copy of your Enhanced DBS (or be able to bring it on your first day)
  • Be fully available Monday–Friday, approx. 8am–4pm
  • Have previous Primary SEND/SEMH experience—particularly with Year 5 & 6 pupils
  • Be confident planning, preparing and adapting lessons for diverse needs
  • Drive and own a car (public transport is not suitable due to the remote location)
  • Live near Brantridge, or be happy with the commute/fuel costs
  • Be resilient, patient and confident in a specialist school environment
What we offer:
  • Immediate start
  • Supportive handover before Easter
  • A fantastic SEMH school with a nurturing, therapeutic approach
  • A chance to make a genuine impact with pupils who thrive on consistency
