A particular feature of this opportunity is the potential to undertake a nationally recognised Level 5 apprenticeship, supporting professional development, enhancing future career prospects and helping to create progression opportunities into specialist roles and higher salary levels over time. This role represents not simply employment, but the opportunity to build a sustained and rewarding career in learning support and inclusive education.

Job Responsibility:

  • provide effective support to learners with additional needs in lessons and across the wider college environment
  • promote learner independence, confidence, engagement and achievement
  • enable learners to develop strategies and skills that support participation and long-term success
  • work collaboratively with teaching staff and support teams to implement appropriate support approaches
  • contribute to a positive, inclusive and aspirational learning environment
  • support learner wellbeing and uphold safeguarding responsibilities at all times
  • maintain appropriate records and contribute to reviews of learner progress and support arrangements

Requirements:

  • a strong commitment to inclusion, participation and learner success
  • the ability to build positive and professional relationships with learners and colleagues
  • effective communication and teamwork skills
  • a professional, proactive and solution-focused approach
  • high expectations for what learners can achieve
  • a willingness to undertake further professional development, including the Level 5 apprenticeship opportunity where applicable

Nice to have:

Previous experience of supporting young people, adults or learners with additional needs

What we offer:

  • strong professional development opportunities
  • the chance to build a longer-term career in the sector
  • a supportive and collaborative working environment
  • access to employee wellbeing support
  • generous annual leave entitlement
  • membership of the relevant pension scheme
  • the opportunity to work in a college that is ambitious for its learners and staff
  • Contributory salary pension scheme (Local Government)
  • Continuing Professional Development for all staff
  • £500 Refer a friend and earn a reward
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • The College offers an eye sight test for anyone who meets the criteria as described within the Health and Safety (Display Screen Equipment) Regulations
  • Progressive family friendly policies
