Job Description

SEN HLTA role in a small, close-knit primary school in Littlehampton, supporting children with ASD, ADHD, SEMH and complex behavioural needs. The school has a warm, supportive staff, nurturing ethos, strong SEND culture, and inclusive environment.

Job Responsibility

  • Work closely with the SENCo to support pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH and complex needs
  • Deliver targeted 1:1 and small‑group interventions
  • Support behaviour regulation using positive, trauma‑informed strategies
  • Assist with personalised plans, visuals, social stories and structured routines
  • Lead learning when required, providing cover and supporting teachers across the school
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with children who need consistency and emotional safety
  • Help model supportive practice for other TAs, where required

Requirements

  • Level 3 TA or HLTA with strong SEN experience
  • Confident supporting children with Autism, ADHD, behavioural challenges and undiagnosed needs
  • Calm, patient and consistent, with a warm presence
  • Excellent behaviour management grounded in nurture and relationship‑building
  • Strong communication skills and a team‑player attitude
  • Proactive who can take initiative and support teachers across the school
  • Must hold or be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS check or Enhanced check for Regulated Activity with the Disclosure & Barring Services

  • SEMH Support: Develop and deliver targeted interventions to support students’ social, emotional, and mental health needs. This may include running small group sessions, providing individual support, and liaising with external agencies when necessary
  • SEN Support: Work collaboratively with the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and ensure appropriate accommodations are in place for students with special educational needs
