Job Description:

We are searching for a Qualified DT Teacher to lead the technical arts curriculum at a specialist SEN school in Thetford. This role is designed for a practitioner who understands that for students with Autism (ASC), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), or sensory processing challenges, the workshop is a vital place to build fine motor skills, spatial awareness, and confidence.

Job Responsibility:

  • Bespoke Project Design: Adapt traditional woodwork, textiles, or food technology projects into 'small-step' tasks
  • Workshop Safety Leadership: Maintain a highly structured, low-arousal environment
  • Sensory-Rich Learning: Integrate tactile experiences into the design process
  • Functional Independence: Focus on 'Design for Life'
  • EHCP Milestone Ownership: Collaborate with the wider school team to track and record progress toward Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) targets
  • Team Supervision: Direct a team of specialised Teaching Assistants
